The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) conducts formal reviews of Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) to ensure compliance with applicable statues and regulations. Review teams are comprised of volunteers from across the State who are professionals in their field. Reviewers can be EPP staff or faculty, teachers, administrators, or specialists working within local educational agencies, or MSDE employees.
Reviewers work on a volunteer basis and should expect to participate in the formal review process every other week for 3-4 months. Most of the formal review work is conducted virtually in both synchronous and asynchronous formats.
Benefits for reviewers include:
•Earn credits for licensure renewal (6 CPDs or 100 PDPs across all mandated renewal areas)
•Build a professional portfolio
•Network with colleagues
•Improve the quality of educator preparation across the State
•Receive a letter of
appreciation from leadership within MSDE
If you are interested in becoming a reviewer, please fill out this form, and a member of the MSDE Educator Preparation Program Approval team will contact you to coordinate your participation in the formal review process.
