Submission Form: Scrub Capital Investment Opportunities
Thank you for sharing an investment opportunity with Scrub Capital!

We are receiving a high volume of submissions due to our public launch. If your opportunity is closing soon, please note that in the close date question. We apologize for being a bit slow for awhile screening opportunities with longer fundraise time horizons, and that we cannot respond to every submission.

Focus :
  • We are intentionally thematically broad in healthcare. We believe this is important for fund risk diversification when investing into a single industry like healthcare. We invest in health tech, tech enabled care delivery, and some Class 1 and 2 (NOT Class 3) medical device companies.  We are flexible on G2M channel.
  • Our check size is 100K-300K
  • We specialize in seed stage companies, but will more rarely participate in pre seed and Series A rounds.
Investment Criteria
  • The problem you are working on is important at the industry and ideally societal level. By solving this problem, you can capture a large portion of a large market, or create a new large market.
  • You have a differentiated and defensible approach to solving this problem, and proof points appropriate to stage that people will use your product and pay you for it.
  • You and your team are the best people in the world to be working on this problem. As a clinician backed fund, we require that clinician leadership is present for certain company categories (such a new care model).
  • We believe our community of clinician experts and operators can make a meaningful difference in the business outcome
  • Valuation, who sits on your Board, and how your term sheet treats the lead V minority investors makes a huge difference in our investment outcome. For that reason, we can give you strong verbal intent but not a final commitment until you have a lead and round terms are set.
We are less likely to invest in:
  • Class 3 medical devices, as the capital intensity and length of the regulatory process is a difficult match for an early stage VC fund
  • G2M outside the United States
  • extremely capital intensive models
  • companies with a post money valuation of >25M
  • uncapped SAFE rounds (SAFEs with a reasonable cap and standard discount terms are fine)

Our investment process takes approximately 3 weeks in total, and includes:
  • This application
  • 30 minute first call with a Scrub Capital manager or Fellow
  • 1 hour with ~20 members of our clinician expert community. This is moderated by a Scrub Capital manager, and half pitch and half expert feedback and conversation.
  • A focused diligence process led by a Scrub Capital GP with a few carefully selected clinician expert community members.
  • A final decision made by the Scrub Capital general partners, heavily relying upon the input of the clinician community.  This is not a community vote model.

About the Submission Form:

We understand these are a lot of questions for a first screen. In our experience, these are all questions asked (and them some!) during a first call with an investment team member anyway, only most people never get to the first call to tell the whole story. It is your decision how much to disclose through this form VS later.

Reach out to info@scrubcapital.com with any questions. Thank you again for taking the time to share your company with us!
