Programming Behavior Study Recruitment

Who can participate: Virginia Tech students, 18 years or older, with experience in Python programming.

What is this study about? We are studying how students interact with AI coding assistants while completing programming tasks. Your participation will help us understand how to better support students in programming courses. (IRB #26-039)

What will participants do?

  • Complete a brief pre-survey
  • Complete Python programming tasks using the VizPI platform
  • Review and label your session afterwards
  • Answer follow-up questions about your reasoning during specific moments
  • Complete a brief post-survey

Time commitment: The study session will be virtual (Zoom link will be provided). The study will last about 60 minutes.

Compensation: Participants will be compensated $20 for their time and effort upon completion of the user study.
