Internship Objective

This unpaid internship offers the chance to acquire professional skills and apply theoretical knowledge in a practical environment. It's designed to aid your arts and educational attainment and career integration. Your tasks will align with your institution's educational project and receive approval from an AfriKin Team Leader. Your institution and AfriKin will jointly design the program, based on the standard training scheme provided.

Pre-Internship Steps

  1. Understand the sector where you'll intern.

  2. Anticipate tasks aimed at enhancing your skills throughout the internship.

Internship Terms

  • You're required to commit a minimum of 15 hours per week.

Internship Supervision

  1. Your academic advisor, either virtually or in-person, will oversee your progress.

  2. An AfriKin supervisor will monitor your internship, ensuring optimal conditions for your performance.

Communication and Problem Resolution

  • Any issues observed by either the intern or supervisor should be promptly communicated to the academic advisor and the educational institution for resolution.

  • Regular progress updates are required, highlighting tasks completed in line with the schedule.

  • Minimum bi-weekly contact between the supervisor and the academic advisor is expected, with more frequent communication if issues arise.

Internship Interruptions and Extensions

  • Any pause in the internship must be reported immediately by the host organization.

  • Extensions or early terminations must involve all parties: the intern, host organization, and academic institution.

Confidentiality and Discretion

Strict confidentiality is expected throughout and beyond the internship. You should refrain from using or disclosing any information obtained without AfriKin's prior consent, including for the internship report. Copying, retaining, or removing any AfriKin document is prohibited without explicit permission.

Intellectual Property

Should your activities result in a copyright or industrial property-protected work, and if AfriKin and you wish to use it, a contract defining rights, media, duration, and remuneration must be agreed upon.

End of Internship: Reporting & Evaluation

  • A final report, meeting the mandatory test requirements in your training program, is required from you.

  • The workplace supervisor will certify your internship's duration and evaluate your performance.

As a participating volunteer, you and any related parties (e.g., successors, heirs, assigns, executors, administrators, employees, agents, AfriKin Foundation Inc, AfriKin Fest, AfriKin LLC, Rockers Movement, One Love Nutrifest, Brooks Music Group Inc, Bayside Rocks Inc, Miami Reggae Festival, Reggae Carifest, Diaspora Festival, Rockers Apparel, Inity Weekly, Brooks Creative Agency, City of Miami, Greater Miami Area, City of Fort Lauderdale, City of West Palm Beach, New York City, City of Denver, City of Palm Springs, City of Atlanta) unconditionally release and discharge AfriKin, its affiliates, and all listed partners from all claims, liabilities, damages, or costs arising from your participation.

You willingly assume all risks of personal injury (including death) or property damage that may occur due to your participation. Furthermore, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless AfriKin and associated entities from any claims, damages, costs, or liabilities (including attorney fees) arising from your acts, omissions, or involvement in the event.

By signing, you acknowledge understanding and voluntarily agreeing to this indemnification. Parents or guardians must sign if the volunteer is under 18 years of age.
