Are you passionate about health, wellbeing, and community?

Do you want to help lead HealthSoc in promoting connection, inclusion, and collaboration across all health disciplines at USYD? Or know someone who would make a great leader?

We’re opening nominations for the 2026 HealthSoc Executive Team, as outlined in our current constitution.


Executive Roles
HealthSoc’s executive team consists of the following positions:
- President
- Co President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- 2x Event Directors
- 2x Design Directors
- 2x Marketing Directors
- Sponsorship Director
- Careers Director
- Publications Director 
- Human Resources Director

Eligibility

To apply, you must be:

  • current University of Sydney student

  • USU (University of Sydney Union) member

Only Ordinary Members are eligible to vote or hold an executive position.


Role Descriptions (as defined in the Constitution)

President
  • Plan the Society’s activities in consultation with the Executive.

  • Liaise with all Executive members and committees formed by the Society.

  • Ensure a complete handover to the incoming executive team.

Co-President
  • Assist the President in overseeing society activities, event planning, and administration.

  • Assume the President’s duties in their absence to ensure smooth operations.

Secretary
  • Manage correspondence, records, and meeting minutes.

  • Maintain member lists and society registration with the USU.

  • Coordinate internal documentation and communication.

Treasurer
  • Manage the Society’s finances in line with the USU Treasurer’s Handbook.

  • Present a financial report at the AGM.

  • Ensure accurate bookkeeping and handover of financial documents.

Events Directors (up to two)
  • Coordinate events and liaise with the team, collaborators, and university.

  • Oversee event logistics and ensure equitable team involvement.

  • Promote inclusive participation among all executives and subcommittee members.

Marketing Directors (up to two)
  • Manage HealthSoc’s social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).

  • Publicise events and ensure consistent and accessible layouts.

  • Engage with audiences through posts, replies, and messages.

Design Directors (up to two)
  • Create promotional designs for social media and publications.

  • Collaborate with Publications and Marketing portfolios.

  • Manage HealthSoc’s visual identity, including merchandise and website design.

Sponsorship Director
  • Secure and maintain partnerships and sponsorships.

  • Collaborate with other societies for co-sponsored events.

  • Ensure sponsorship agreements are honoured.

Careers Director
  • Build industry connections and organise professional events.

  • Manage the HealthSoc LinkedIn and alumni engagement.

  • Oversee the peer mentoring and career development programs.

Publications Director
  • Oversee HealthSoc’s newsletters and written publications.

  • Support website content and outreach.

Human Resources Director
  • Organise internal team-building and social bonding.

  • Facilitate communication between portfolios.

  • Support team wellbeing and manage subcommittee recruitment.


Expectations

All executive members are expected to:

  • Actively contribute to meetings, planning, and events.

  • Collaborate across portfolios to achieve HealthSoc’s aims.

  • Represent HealthSoc professionally within and beyond the university.


Nomination Process
  • Submit this form before the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

  • At the AGM, candidates will deliver a 1–2 minute speech introducing themselves, outlining their experience, vision, and suitability for the role.

  • Members may nominate for multiple roles (list preferences in order)

Not ready for an executive position yet?
We’ll also open subcommittee applications after the AGM for members eager to gain experience and contribute to HealthSoc’s initiatives in 2026!
