Conditions for Applying
As you begin the application process, please read over each of the following statements. Then write your initials in the space below to signify that you understand what you are committing to should you be accepted to a SEED New Leaders Training.
Application Commitment
*
I am applying to attend SEED New Leaders Training (NLT) on behalf of a proposed SEED site (a community, organization, or institution) committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

Please enter your initials to indicate you agree.
NLT Proposed Site Commitment
*
I understand that by participating in SEED New Leaders Training (NLT), I am committing to lead an ongoing SEED seminar at my proposed SEED site. This seminar must meet—virtually or in person—for a minimum of 24 hours total, in sessions of at least 90 minutes each, spread over no fewer than 10 weeks within the two years following my NLT training.

Please enter your initials to indicate you agree.
SEED Seminar Recruiting Commitment
*
I will be able to recruit and retain at least 8, and preferably 15 to 25, members of my proposed SEED site (my community, organization, or institution) to regularly attend the SEED seminar I facilitate (either virtually or in-person).

Please enter your initials to indicate you agree.
DEI and Social Justice
*
I understand that by “diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice,” SEED affirms that all people should be able to live as their whole selves and be well —especially those historically and currently marginalized due to their identity/identities. SEED also believes in building just relationships. I commit to learning more about, upholding, and moving toward enacting these values.

Please enter your initials to indicate you agree.
Recognizing Individual Identities
*
I understand that SEED connects the personal with the systemic. I am ready to reflect on and share my own identities—including racial, linguistic, national, gender, sexual, socioeconomic, religious/spiritual, and ability/wellness. I also commit to understanding my role and responsibility in personal and collective social justice, given the systems we are all part of. I will engage in this work individually, in identity-based affinity groups, and in cross-identity spaces.

Please enter your initials to indicate you agree.
SEED Attendance and Commitment
*
I am committed to attending all required New Leaders Training sessions under the guidance of SEED co-directors and staff before beginning to facilitate SEED at my site. I understand that I will be working alongside SEED participants and staff with diverse identities and lived experiences. During this time, our shared goal is to build a learning community where all voices are valued. Each person is expected to engage in their own reflective work and to participate with openness in conversations across both shared and differing identities and experiences.

Please enter your initials to indicate you agree.
NLT Experience
*
I understand that SEED NLT is an immersive experiential training. I understand that this is practice-based training where each session builds on the previous sessions. I understand that SEED NLT is meant to provide me with my own SEED learning experience and to prepare me to lead a SEED seminar. I am committed to participating in both parts of this process as an individual and as part of a cohort. I understand that SEED staff will be present to encourage and guide both my own personal growth and my facilitative capacities.

Please enter your initials to indicate you agree.
NLT Time Commitment
*
I understand that SEED NLT is an intensive 125-hour commitment. I understand that for the in-person training, this includes 10 hours of pre-work, five 11-hour days, and two 5-hour bookend days. For the virtual training, it includes 5 hours of pre-work, ten 2-hour Zoom calls, and about 5 hours per week on discussion boards.

Please enter your initials to indicate you agree.
NLT Preparedness
*
I understand that while SEED provides trained staff, intentionally-designed sessions, and adequate opportunities for rest, well-being, and leisure, I am responsible for my own self-care before, during, and after NLT so that I can be physically, cognitively, and emotionally prepared and present for my own work and our time together. I also understand the collective care that is necessary at such a training, and will commit to honoring other people's commitments to the shared work as well as other responsibilities as we work together during this training.

Please enter your initials to indicate you agree.
Site Support Form Requirement
*
I understand that my application will not be reviewed until a Site Support Form is submitted on my behalf by someone other than myself. This form must be completed by someone with the authority to financially and logistically support my participation in NLT and my facilitation of a SEED seminar over the coming year. Specifically, this person must have the authority to fund my attendance at NLT, actively promote our SEED seminar at our site, and support our efforts to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. They are expected to do so with a clear understanding of, and commitment to, these values—even in the face of potential opposition.

Please enter your initials to indicate you agree.
