The intent of the GSC Student Research Grants Program is to provide support to students engaged in research addressing the geology of Connecticut. Up to three GSC Student Research Grants of $500 each are awarded each year.
To be eligible for a GSC Student Research Grant, (1) you must be an undergraduate student or a master's student, (2) your major or area of specialization must be geology or a related discipline, and (3) your proposed project must be related to the geology of Connecticut. If you are uncertain about whether your proposed project meets our criteria of being related to the geology of Connecticut, please contact the coordinator of the GSC Student Grants Program at jean.crespi@uconn.edu.
Applications for a GSC Student Research Grant consist of (1) this form and (2) a letter of recommendation from your faculty supervisor. We ask that your faculty supervisor use our letter of recommendation form for their letter of recommendation. In order for your faculty supervisor to receive the link for their letter of recommendation, you must contact the coordinator of the GSC Student Grants Program at jean.crespi@uconn.edu no later than 5 p.m. on the date grant applications are due with the name and email address of your faculty supervisor. The coordinator of the GSC Students Grants Program will email your faculty supervisor the link.
To be considered for a 2024 GSC Student Research Grant, this form must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2024. The faculty member writing your letter of recommendation must submit their recommendation by 11:59 p.m. on April 1, 2024.
Applicants will receive notification by May 1, 2024, of the GSC Student Research Grants Committee's decision on their application.
