Registration for tMHFA Training for the Woodstock Cohort
Teen Mental Health First Aid, or tMHFA, is an evidence-based training program for teens in grades 10-12 that teaches the skills to recognize and aid their peers experiencing mental health and substance use challenges and crises, including how to quickly get the help of an adult. The tMHFA program is designed to help teens help each other navigate the difficult waters of adolescence.
According to Mental Health First Aid USA, the program sponsor, “After the course, teens will be able to recognize early warning signs that a friend is developing a mental health or substance use challenge, describe how to talk to a friend about mental health and seeking help, explain when and how to get a responsible adult involved, and apply the tMHFA Action Plan to help a friend with a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.”
The training is offered at no cost by the Maya Gold Foundation.
Teens must attend all three sessions to be certified.
All participants will be seated during the training with 6' spacing and masks will be required during the training. You will be provided a detailed Safety Protocol upon registration.
The training will be held on April 15, 22 and 29, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Town of Woodstock Community Center at 55 Rock City Road in Woodstock.
