FAQ: Can I have 15% of a textbook scanned, then replace it with the next 15%? **Answer** "Unfortunately, that type of use would violate copyright; segmented copying essentially eliminates the need to purchase the whole book, which is the protection the law was designed for, the allowances are limited, e.g. 10-15% for academic purpose... to balance the rights of author/publisher with the needs of reader/learner."
