It is a custom after the celebration of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday to make a pilgrimage to various churches. It is done in the spirit of keeping company to Jesus during his agony in the garden, arrest, trial, and passion. Here at St. John's, we will celebrate the Lord's Supper at 7:30pm. The Eucharist will be carried in procession from the chapel to Msgr Swetland Room for prayerful adoration. From there, we will gather by the Front Office (Void) and pray our first decade of the rosary before we begin our pilgrimage to three other churches. We will go to Holy Cross, St. Mary's, and St. Matthew's in Champaign. At each church, we pray a decade of the rosary outside the church and go in for a few moments of silent prayer. Our final decade of the rosary will be back at Newman.
