Purpose: The AppJam+ Showcase, powered by Dreams for Schools, is the culmination of a 10-week process whereby college students guide middle and high-school students in the making of a mobile app, providing mentorship as well. Students get to present their work at a showcase, supported by their parents, school board members, community partners, and congressional representatives. Showcase volunteers are needed in order to help ensure the event runs smoothly.
Location: Each showcase will take place in a venue in Orange County.
Key Responsibilities: Event volunteers will assist in setting up the event, checking-in and registering guests, coordinating and facilitating schools and teams with taking photos, getting food, receiving supplies from mentors, and cleaning up after the event.
Qualifications: Good organization and communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to delegate.
Support: Training for this position will be provided.
Benefits: Volunteers will receive dinner, t-shirts, and an invitation to the Dreams for Schools’ annual volunteer appreciation dinner. Event volunteers will also have the opportunity to meet others in the community, while supporting STEM education and youth development.
