MC Olympics is an annual olympic-style competition featuring the dopest emcees at Brave New Voices. Through several rounds of exercises showcasing pen game and personality, we seek to highlight every emcee’s skill level across hip-hop’s various styles and sub-genres. MCO is also a networking event to cypher, meet other dope artists, and have fun. Sound like something you wanna get down with? More info below!

MC OLYMPICS EVENTS -----
Emcees looking to take home the crown should come prepared to participate in the following:

1) Hot 16
Bust your hottest 16-bar verse over a randomly assigned instrumental (writtens are encouraged). There will be no a cappella option so come ready to spit to any beat! Emcees will perform cypher-style and pass the "mic."  

2) Freestyle Fury
DJ drops a beat and you come off the top of the dome (no writtens allowed). During the show you will be assigned random words and/or images that must be incorporated in your freestyle. Gotta keep y'all on ya toes!

3) Verse of the Movement
BNV 2020 is taking place amidst a revolution to liberate Black lives and to dismantle the systems that terrorize Black, Indigenous & People of Color communities. Come with a verse inspired by the movement or your personal, immediate experience of it.

4) You Do You
The wild card round! You have the opportunity to perform your own original content to move the room and show folks what you're about. Your goal is to rock the show with something that represents who you are as an artist.
*This round will feature only emcees who make it to FINALS! See below for when that is.

MC OLYMPICS SCHEDULE -----
PRELIMS: Wednesday, July 22nd @ 5:00pm PST (7:00pm CT/ 8:00pm EST)
FINALS: Friday, July 24th @ 3:30pm PST (5:30pm CT/ 6:30pm EST)
*Mandatory soundcheck for each bout will begin ONE HOUR before start times listed above
