Please note we are centrally located in the Greater Charlotte NC area. We do not have a facility and are an all-volunteer/foster based 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue. We are only accepting Volunteer
applications from applicants that reside in Mecklenburg and Union counties in NC and York and Lancaster counties in SC.
Filling out this volunteer application does not guarantee there will be volunteer opportunities. In addition, all
volunteers are required to sign and submit a volunteer release form prior to volunteering for Carolina
P.A.W.S. This form can be found on our website

Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteers and fosters are the backbone of our organization. They help hundreds of animals a year
through their hard work and dedication. Regardless of your skills or schedule, there are plenty of
opportunities throughout the year to help us rescue animals in need. If you would like to join our team,
please see the many opportunities below. Once you are contacted by a Carolina P.A.W.S representative
you will need to sign and submit a Volunteer Release Form before volunteering for the rescue.
Event Volunteers
We need volunteers to help with events held throughout the Mecklenburg and Union county area of NC. We partner with local businesses in our area for varies events that help promote and support our rescue. We also hold weekly meet and greet events at the PETSMART Blakeney most Saturday
afternoons. Please note that all volunteers must have a Volunteer Release Form on
file in order to participate at any of our events. The following are just a few opportunities needed at our events:
- Volunteer to Oversee local events and answer general questions from the public (must be 21 years old or older).
- Assist with handling rescued dogs and cats at events (must be at least 16 years old or older)
- Assist with set up and clean up for events.
- Assist with transporting dogs to local area events for meet and greets when needed (must be 21 years old or older and have validate drivers license)
Cat Condo Volunteers
We need volunteers to help care for rescued cats that temporarily stay in the cat condos at
PETSMART Blakeney location 9911 Rea Road Charlotte NC while waiting for their forever homes. Please note that all volunteer must
have a completed Volunteer Release Form on file.
- Socialization; giving our rescued cats lots of love and attention while volunteering.
- Replenishing fresh food and water supplied by Petsmart.
- Cleaning litter boxes.
- Usually regular volunteers work once a week for 1 to 2 hours.
- Cat Condo Volunteers need to be 18 years of age or older to work individually or 16 years old to
work with a parent/guardian.
Other administrative opportunities
- Help plan and coordinate fundraising and/or special events.
- Help contact local media about events and happenings.
- Preparing grant proposals
- Data entry
