Now is the time to nominate your favorite grassroots visionary to honor with the 2026 Wheeling Township Botterman award!
Each year the Wheeling Township Democrats recognize an individual who has demonstrated the qualities of leadership and commitment that defined Patrick Botterman. Patrick unexpectedly passed away at the age of 44, but he left a rich legacy of grassroots work building the party in the NW suburbs.
Patrick served as the elected Wheeling Township Democratic Committeeman for over 17 years. He recruited scores of volunteers and candidates for local and state offices. He managed campaigns for Michael Dukakis, Scott Waguespack, Dan Kotowski, and Michael Schroeder, and was a mentor for Kathleen Sances. Pat made the Democratic Party a prominent political force in the Chicago suburbs.
Each year we look to honor a leader who lives their values and illuminates the power of grassroots activism.
The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Please note that a phone number and email address for a nominee is required so WTDO can contact them if they're selected for the award. Any questions should be emailed to info@wheelingdems.com.
