Handbook/Dates Sign-Off Form
Hello, and on behalf of Mrs. San Roman and myself, welcome to the 2019-2020 school year and the Oswego Band Program. We are very excited about this year in music, and can't wait to see the students grow and mature in their music and lives throughout the coming months.
Because of the nature of our class, there are a few more elements we need to make sure families are aware of. One of the most important of these are the dates for our concerts, performances, festivals, rehearsals, etc. Band is a collaborative class, which means that we need EVERYONE there to have a successful performance. It's different then, say, math class, where a students who doesn't show up, or doesn't do well, only affects that student. In band, one student missing a concert can impact the entire group in huge ways. It is because of this that we give out the dates right away, so you can put them in your calendars. If you look ahead and see that you have a conflict already, i.e. family wedding, trip, etc., no problem. Simply put the conflict down in the appropriate area, and we will make arrangements to get that part covered when the time comes. As long as we keep an open line of communication, most problems of this nature will be solved before they become problems. At the bottom of this paragraph, we have a list of all the curricular bands and the dates they need to be responsible for. This list is also in the handbook, and can be found on our website at www.ohsband.org . There are also dates in the handbook that refer to extra-curricular groups (i.e. jazz bands, SPC Honor Band, etc.) If you are planning on being a part of these groups, it would be great to get these in your calendars now, though you won't have to fill out anything until later for those.

Besides the dates, please take a moment to peruse the handbook for important information as to what we wear for concerts, grading, discipline policies, etc. If you have any questions on this, please don't hesitate to ask.

All students will be given this information in class, and sign off that they understand all the information. We are asking that you fill out this form as an indication that you understand the policies outlined in the handbook. (for easy reference, here is the link to access the handbook electronically...students were given the physical copy in band this week. http://www.ohsband.org/band-handbook.html )

Students in the upperclassmen bands will have a few extra slips to fill out, giving permission to go on various trips.

We are asking that parents fill this form out by Friday, August 23rd. Again, thank you for being a part of something very special, the Panther Band Program!!!
