Kim Sandoval Voice Lessons
Soprano, Kimberly Sandoval from McAllen, TX, is an alumna of Texas State University where she completed her undergraduate studies in Music studies and graduate studies in Voice Performance. There, she performed as Countess Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, Mother Marie in Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Lady Bird Johnson in the world premiere of Lady Bird: First Lady of the Land. Outside of academia she has performed as Dido in Dido and Aeneas, and Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte with the Landesbühnen Sachsen Opera Company, and is currently in the professional chorus with Boston Lyric Opera, Opera San Antonio and Austin Opera. Branching outside opera, as a soloist, she has performed and premiered works such as Peterson’s Shadows and Lights, Bach’s Magnificat, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Bernstein’s Songfest – working in conjunction with Texas State University’s biannual Art Song Symposium. She has coached with Jill Grove, Stephanie Blythe, David DQ Lee, and Maria Kanyova, and she currently studies voice with Julian Reed. Ms. Sandoval has worked with students from K-12 at schools such as Boone Elementary, Dahlstrom Middle School, and Weiss High School. She worked as a clinician and adjudicator at local and regional choir festivals, and she was an active mentor working with young choirs and vocalists at Texas State Choir Camp and in other festivals such as the Tejada All-Star festival.
Ms. Sandoval’s teaching goals are to build a healthy vocal approach to singing and a solid foundation in breath support. Learning to sing is a journey of enjoyment, and she wants to help her students discover themselves through music. “Relax, breathe, love and enjoy the process,” is what she lives by.
