Fall 2018 Application to the 5-year B.S./M.S. Program in Computer Science
Computer science majors may apply for admission to a program that leads to a Bachelor of Science degree at the end of the fourth year and a Master of Science degree at the end of the fifth year. Students must satisfy the respective requirements of both degrees, but the main advantage of the program is that 9 credits may be simultaneously applied to both the undergraduate and graduate requirements.

Students usually apply to the program in their junior year. Applications are reviewed, and must be approved, by the Computer Science Graduate Admissions Committee. The application process is competitive.

To be considered applicants must have:
- a CS GPA of 3.25 or higher,
- a cum GPA of 3.0 or higher, and
- completed at least three 300+ level CSE major courses at Stony Brook (not including CSE300, CSE301 or CSE312)

Applications must also include:
(i) a statement of purpose,
(ii) a one or two-page resume, and
(iii) two or three recommendation letter emails, at least one from a computer science faculty member.
