Just as ocean migrations from South Asia to the Caribbean played a vital role in shaping and forging the Indo-Caribbean identity, our ocean kin are continuously being shaped by the currents of current events . Through ripples and waves birthed both near and far, we are in constant reminder of the many ways we are all interconnected regionally, locally and globally.
Please submit past or new artworks that you feel connects to this theme no later than 11:59pm on Friday, March 14th, 2025.
We especially encourage under-represented artists from the Indo-Caribbean diaspora to submit (Jamaica, Suriname, Guadalupe, etc.).
You may submit any of the following:
A) Image of 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional artworks in PNG or JPEG format. (5 pieces max).
B) Poems no longer than 45 lines. (3 poems max).
C) Short Stories no longer than 1500 words (3 short stories max).
D) Short Film no longer than 20 minutes. (3 short films max).
E) Music samples no longer than 8 minutes each. (3 samples max).
*If you work in multiple mediums you may submit to more than one category. (7 pieces total max).
*Each artwork must be submitted in a separate form.
This exhibit will be held at The Oyate Group on Saturday May 10th, 2025 from 2pm - 7pm.
The Oyate space is multifunctional with white walls, a gray cinder block wall, computers, monitors, tables, chairs, and desks.
Inclusion of artworks in the exhibit is dependent on space, timely submissions and relevancy. It is not based on merit. Early submissions are given priority.
