Title I Parent Involvement Policy
November 20, 2020
Dear Parent/Guardian:

During our Back to School Night’s Title I Parent Meeting we shared our commitment to your student as we strive towards academic excellence. One of our commitments involves a three-part agreement between parents, students and teachers known as our Title I Parent Compact. Every year parents/guardians are to receive this document during a parent teacher conference, preferably at the beginning of the year. It is to be reviewed by the teacher with the parent and student, and all parties sign and receive a copy.

Attached is a copy of our current Title I Parent Compact. The Compact includes responsibilities of all parents/guardians, students and teachers as it relates to working as a successful team at Palm Middle School. We are asking for all of our parents/guardians to read, review and provide any suggestions for improving the overall purpose and/or language written in this document.

If you have suggestions please complete and submit the following form by Monday, November 30, 2020:

Parent Involvement Policy
Palm Middle School has developed a written Title I parental involvement policy with input from Title I parents.
Palm Middle School has jointly developed and distributed to parents of Title I students a school-parent compact that outlines how parents, the entire school staff and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement. It also describes how the school and parents will develop a partnership to help children reach proficiency on the California Common Core State Standards. The school-parent compact describes the following items in addition to items added by parents of Title I students:
A. The school’s responsibility to provide high-quality curriculum and instruction,
B. The parents’ responsibility to support their children’s learning,
C. The importance of ongoing communication between parents and teachers through, at least, annual conferences, reports on student progress, access to staff and opportunities to volunteer and participate in and observe the educational program.

Please take a moment and give us your feedback and share your suggestions to the Parent Involvement Policy and the Parent Compact. Please complete and submit this form by Monday, November 30, 2020.
