COMPETITION TEAMS
Competition Teams Description:
Traditional Recreation Cheerleading Teams is where participants perform a 2 minute and 30 second routine consisting of tumbling, cheer, stunts, jumps, and dance.

Competition Season typically runs
Most 8yo-18yo teams:
July through February/March

10yo and younger teams:
August through January

Competition Teams Costs:
All competition cheerleaders must pay a $115 registration fee. This helps to purchase/replace/maintain uniforms, equipment (signs, poms, megaphones, flags) and other needs.
This registration fee does include their uniform rental and competition bow (they keep).

All competition cheerleaders will have an additional cost for Choreography and Camps.
This allows for additional fundraisers to be run, and donations, towards these specific costs

All competition cheerleaders must pay a monthly fee. Included in the monthly fee are facility rentals, professional costs, travel costs to local (in-state) competitions, and competition registrations fees.

Estimated monthly team fees:
  • 3yo-5yo teams - Practices once a week - starting in August with Camp ($TBD)
  • 6yo-10yo teams - Practices once a week - starting in August with Camp ($TBD)
  • 12u teams - Practices 1-2 times a week - starting in August or July with Camp ($TBD)
  • 10yo-18yo teams - Practices 2-3 times a week - starting in July with Camp ($TBD)
  • 10yo-18yo travel teams - Practices 2-3 times a week - starting in July with Camp ($TBD)
Fundraisers are run throughout the season to reduce the costs of Choreography, Camp, and Monthly Fees. The more participation, the lower the costs can be! On average, families have been able to see up to 50% or more for adjustments against their fees when participating in Fundraisers and Events!

Team Placement
Cheerleaders are evaluated during camps, classes and clinics that they attend.
Cheerleaders returning to the Minnesota Jets will have their previous year evaluated for behavior, skills, and attendance.
Evaluations are made using our core values:
Spirit, Accountability, Work Ethic, Safety, Integrity (SAWSI)

Coaches will work to place every cheerleader within the team they will be most successful for skill development and advancement, competitions, and performance abilities. A cheerleader or parent may have their heart set on a specific team, however, we want our cheerleaders to be placed with the team that they will have the best and most rewarding experience. Placing a student on a team that is too advanced, or requires a higher level of expectations and work before they are ready can risk injury, burnout, emotional stress, and issues with confidence. We ask that all cheerleaders and parents "trust the process".

**HARDSHIP AND FINANCIAL BARRIERS - DISCLAIMER**
We understand that economic hardships are very real situations, and as a nonprofit we will work with any families. We believe that financial obstacles should not be a reason why a child misses the opportunity to experience cheerleading. Please reach out for information about our hardship scholarship.

COMPETITION TRAVELING TEAMS
The Minnesota Jets offers up to 2 Traveling Teams.

These teams are restricted to 10yo-18yo ages.
These are higher skilled teams, however, students new to cheerleading can still ask to be considered for team placement.

These teams will have the opportunity to do competitions that could require overnight stays, and possible out of State travel with extended overnight stays. We are looking at 1-2 overnight type events during the season, and 1 or 2 Out of State competitions, other than Nationals (which must be earned). Determination of how many overnight and out of state competitions is based on costs, fundraising, and travel logistics.

Cheerleaders will be required to travel and stay with their team.

Traveling Teams will have additional costs for Travel, Lodging, Meals. These are things that we will fundraise for, however, costs will ultimately be the responsibility of the cheerleaders families.

Example of travel includes:
Out of State Competitions (1-3 days)
Nationals - Quest (if earned) (6 days)
Nationals - WOW (if earned) (3-4 days)

If you would like to have your cheerleader be considered during the Team Placement Process for one of these teams, please answer ALL of the questions below.
