Petition: We Stand With Students
At 8:00pm last Friday, four members of Mountain Justice received emails from the Dean’s Office threatening citations for their participation in the February 24th sit-in at Mark Amstutz's office. Potential penalties for the citation include a fine and academic probation. It is not clear yet why these four particular students were selected.

These students were participating in this action as part of a long tradition of peaceful protest, calling on the Board to divest from their holdings in the destructive fossil fuel industry. To respond to this peaceful protest with threats of citations is a rejection of the values that Swarthmore stands for.

PETITION TEXT: To President Smith and Dean Miller: We stand with these students who took peaceful action to highlight the urgent need for moral leadership by the College on this issue and we urge you to affirm our community's right to peaceful protest.
