Thank you for weighing in on this year's Participatory Budgeting ballot!

Alderwoman Cruz will be devoting up to $500,000 of the 30th Ward's $1.5 million annual "menu money" budget for measures that improve safety for everyone who uses our streets and sidewalks--pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers alike. (The remaining $1 million in menu money will be devoted to street and alley repairs and other infrastructure improvements.)

Residents were invited to submit locations in the 30th Ward with street safety issues via a survey and at three in-person meetings held across the ward. Those submissions were collected and analyzed by Alderwoman Cruz and her staff, with 3-4 possible locations for improvements for this ballot. You will vote on ONE location in each option.

After the votes are tabulated, Alderwoman Cruz will submit the winning locations to the Chicago Department of Transportation for a traffic study (if one has not been done for that area already) to analyze the possible options and provide cost estimates. We will attempt to fund as many projects as we can, beginning with the top location in each region, and then moving to the 2nd place finishers, etc. Work on the locations will most likely begin in the middle of 2026, possibly extending into 2027.

Please reach out to the 30th Ward Office at Ward30@cityofchicago.org or 773-628-7874 if you have any questions
