2024 CHSSA Student of the Year

The CHSSA Student of the Year award stands as a shining testament to the power of young voices, embodying the spirit of service, activism, and community outreach. This prestigious recognition is a heartfelt tribute to those who have harnessed the art of communication to make a profound impact on the world around them.

Selected from a pool of nominees across the vast expanse of California, these remarkable students, in their final year of competition, exemplify the true essence of the CHSSA mission statement. They have honed their speech and debate skills not merely as tools for personal achievement but as catalysts for positive change. These young individuals have utilized their talents to champion causes, advocate for justice, and ignite transformation within their communities.

As the CHSSA mission statement emphasizes, these exemplary students have not only honed their communication abilities but also developed critical thinking, analytical prowess, and the art of persuasive public presentations. They have cultivated the listening skills essential for informed decision-making and the power to resolve conflicts peacefully. Moreover, they have fostered interpersonal skills that transcend boundaries, promoting understanding in our diverse society.

The CHSSA Student of the Year award is more than just an accolade; it is a celebration of young leaders who have harnessed their speech and debate skills as instruments of positive change. These exceptional individuals embody the mission of the CHSSA, striving to empower themselves and their communities, exemplifying the potential of youth activism, and leaving an indelible mark on the world.

The intent of this award is to highlight students who, through utilizing their speech and debate skills, best embody our organization’s beliefs about integrity, character, and service as outlined in the CHSSA Mission Statement  (which you can read here: http://www.chssa.org/about-chssa/ ).

Emphasis should be placed on student activism and community outreach.
