DHSAA Distinguished Student Nomination
The DHS Alumni Association bestows this recognition, along with a $1500 award, on one DHS senior student who best demonstrates the essential attributes to be considered “distinguished” among his or her peers.

The successful recipient will demonstrate:
• Passion and perseverance to pursue a goal or interest
• Self-discipline and respect for others
• Integrity in all areas of life
• Most important: The kind of positive charisma that inspires others to reach higher themselves

Such a joyful, lifelong pursuit of excellence in self and for others was exemplified in the life of the late DHS alumnus, USMC Captain Jeff Kuss, the inspiration for this award. This award has no minimum GPA and is not given for specific academic or athletic performance.

To be considered, a candidate must receive at least two nominations. This is not a popularity contest. Every qualified nominee will be considered on merit by the DHSAA Awards Committee. This campaign is being administered by the Durango High School Alumni Association, under the fiscal agency of the Durango Education Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity operating independently of Durango School District 9-R.

DEADLINE: March 1, 2017
