TEDxUQ 2019 Team Application
Applications close Friday 1 March (extended).

Please note: all roles commence at the beginning of March and run until the end of September 2019. Throughout this time, all roles will require a time commitment of approximately 5 hours per week. This will increase over the semester break leading up to the event in August.


As part of the Marketing & Communications Team, you will:
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy for online and on-campus engagement
- Create content for and manage TEDxUQ's social media presence
- Maintain email communication with mailing lists throughout the year and event attendees leading up to the event
- Maintain communication with attendees after the event
- Manage the promotion of published talks after the event

As part of the Operations Team, you will:
- Work with the TEDxUQ Directors and all other teams to curate a unique attendee experience that encourages attendees to connect around the power of ideas
- Identify and procure resources required for the event set-up and running, including catering
- Liaise with the Curatorial Team and Partnerships & Finance Team to identify and procure resources for the speakers, performers, and partners respectively
- Identify and contact organisations and community groups to organise interactive booths that showcase local innovation
- Manage attendee registration

As part of the Partnerships & Finance Team, you will:
- Identify companies and institutions for potential partnerships
- Develop a partnership proposal
- Contact potential partners, explaining TEDxUQ’s mission and how it aligns with their company’s values
- Procure monetary and in-kind sponsorship to meet budgetary requirements
- Work with partners throughout the year to help create a meaningful experience for attendees
- Develop a budget
- Prepare a financial report for partners post-event

As part of the Curatorial Team, you will:
- Search for and identify speakers to develop a program that highlights ideas worth spreading from within the UQ and wider Brisbane communities. This includes researching potential speakers, reviewing speaker applications, interviewing applicants, and selecting the final program of speakers
- Liaise directly with a small group of speakers to assist them to develop their talks within the event theme. This includes proofing drafts, as well as overseeing various rehearsals leading up to the event
- Assist with providing any resources that speakers may need and ensuring these are available on the event day. This includes ensuring speakers have the required props, equipment, or visual aids for their presentation, as well as adhering to copyright law
- Ensure all speakers adhere to strict TEDx guidelines as well as the values and ethics of UQ

As a Graphic Designer, you will:
- Develop and implement the visual identity for TEDxUQ 2019
- Develop and design content for the TEDxUQ event website
- Create the TEDxUQ program guide

Note: applicants should have basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

As a Production Coordinator you will:
- Organise AV for the event
- Manage the implementation of the livestream feed
- Manage the recording of all talks on event day
- Oversee the editing and publishing of TEDxUQ talks online
- Manage the filming of promotional material in the lead up to the event

- Attend rehearsals to engage with and get to know speakers personally
- Liaise with speakers to develop their stage introductions
- Develop the event script and memorise
- Execute a stellar performance on event day
