2018 OWHE Board Application
Oregon Women in Higher Education (OWHE) is accepting applications for new board members. We are eager to elect people into the following board positions and continue the great work of connecting women in the state of Oregon, providing our members with professional development opportunities, and encouraging women to lead change in higher education. If you are interested in this amazing opportunity to serve, please apply!

Eligibility
Any active OWHE member is eligible to apply for a board position. Membership is open to individuals who meet the following criteria: 1) are affiliated with higher education in the state of Oregon; 2) identify as a woman or ally; 3) attended the annual conference or another OWHE sponsored event such as webinars, meet-ups, etc. and 4) are signed up on our list serve. Active membership is defined as participation in OWHE activities within the 12 months prior to and including the annual conference (January 25-26, 2018).

Elections
Applications will be compiled and distributed to active OWHE members to cast electronic votes. New board members will be elected by a majority vote.

Elections Timeline:
Election application deadline: Friday, March 2 @ 11:59 PM
Elections open: Monday, March 5
Elections close: Friday, March 16 @ 11:59 PM
E-mail notifications sent to new board by Monday, March 19
Installation of new board officers by Monday, April 16

New board members will need to be able to attend the OWHE Board Retreat in June, Date TBA.

Open Board Positions
1) Chair of the Board* (3 year appointment)

Responsible for the oversight of the BOD, including all meetings and retreats and serves as liaison to ACE; Assures that the BOD fulfills its responsibilities for the governance of the organization; chairs all meetings of the BOD; serves as primary representative and liaison for the organization; oversees board elections, membership strategy, strategic planning, and institutional reps. Responsible for welcoming new members, supporting and guiding the direction of the board, as well as initiating and building relationships with ACE Women’s Network, the Presidential Sponsors, as well as our potential institutional partnerships across the state.

*prior experience and involvement with OWHE is strongly preferred

2) Director of Professional Advancement (2 year appointment)

Responsible for building a culture of advancement for women in higher education positions: Manage OWHE’s mentorship program and provide connection opportunities for the mentorship members throughout the year; Plan, implement, and assess the mentorship breakfast at the annual conference; Welcome new mentorship program members that join throughout the year; Update mentorship program information, including website text, newsletters, and mentorship breakfast materials; Participate in the development of the Institutional Representative (IR) role. Support IR’s and mentorship/all OWHE members build connections between IR’s and mentorship program members; Collaborate with Director of Records, Marketing, and Outreach to maintain regular contact with mentorship program members to promote growth, retention and highlight the benefits of involvement in OWHE.

3) Director of Marketing, Records & Outreach (2 year appointment)
Responsible for providing communication to the general membership and developing marketing strategies for OWHE in the following ways: Maintains the OWHE list serve sign-up form on the OWHE website; Maintains database of current members of OWHE; Collaborates with Board of Directors to maintain regular contact with members to promote growth, retention and highlight the benefits of involvement in OWHE; Develops annual report of membership and participation in collaboration in conjunction with Board of Directors; Leads the Communications Committee; Manages social media accounts; Maintains website; Creates and executes marketing plans for OWHE; Creates and manages brand and marketing materials.

4) Co-Director of the Annual Conference (2 year appointment)*
In partnership with 2nd year Co-Director of the Annual Conference, responsible for the planning and oversight of the OWHE Annual Conference; assemble and oversee the conference planning committee and all conference volunteers; responsible for conference bid process for subsequent years

*prior experience and involvement with the OWHE Annual Conference is preferred

ALL Board positions are responsible for attending all BOD meetings (conference call once a month with a board retreat in June), developing and executing OWHE's strategic plan, and supporting the Director of the Annual Conference in planning and execution of the annual conference.
