The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui is a nonprofit organization where your donations are tax deductible, and will go towards supporting our mission to perpetuate the Japanese culture on Maui.

We aim to provide you regular updates of our events throughout the year, which includes educational workshops at our quarterly meetings, like cooking demonstrations and service projects, and our signature celebrations like the annual Maui Matsuri, the Oshougatsu mochi pounding and our Shinnen Enkai evening banquet. We also have a scholarship program, where applications are due the end of this month!

Next year (2019) is JCSM’s 50th anniversary. And this year is a big milestone for us also. 2018 marks the 150th year when the first Japanese immigrants arrived in Hawaii. These immigrants are known as the “Gannenmono.” They are our ancestors who have sacrificed a lot to bring us here today. We are planning various activities to honor them and celebrate this historic event, which includes welcoming the Kaiwo Maru training ship and her crew at the Kahului Harbor in May.

This is why we are reaching out to invite you to renew your support and join us in celebrating the next two years and beyond. In addition to the education and camaraderie, members can also take advantage of discount benefits at the following participating businesses.
• Abbey Carpet of Maui
• Island Honda
• Kahului Florist
• Maui Box Shop
• Sanrio
• TJ’s Warehouse Outlet
(If you would like to offer a benefit to our membership and have your business added to this list, just let us know!)

If you have any questions or have ideas, send me an email at jcsmhawaii@gmail.com. We look forward to having you at our future events!
