24 Hours for the Lord - “With you is forgiveness”

Once gain this lent Pope Francis has called the Church to a more intentional serious walk with the Lord. He announced in his 2019 Lenten Message that this year, March 29th and 30th would be designated as a special time called “24 Hours for the Lord.” This is the sixth year that he has done so through an initiative of the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization. The initiative is simple, but profound. Every diocese in the world is asked to have at least one Church open for a 24 hour period with Eucharistic Adoration and times for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

In our Diocese of Metuchen we will have four designated parishes sponsoring this great initiative: St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen; St. Bernard of Clairvaux, Bridgewater; St. Joseph, North Plainfield and Ss. Philip and James, Phillipsburg. In each of these places the Church will be open from 9 am Friday through 9 am Saturday. Each of the parishes will provide several hours of opportunities for the Sacrament of Penance. The penance times for St. Bernard are: 3:00 pm -- 6:00 pm; 10:00 pm - 12 midnight; 6:00 am --- 8:00 am

May this unique initiative be an opportunity of great renewal and conversion to the Lord during this holy season of Lent.
