Mentoring opportunities
During Spring 2019, we will work with four middle schools: Lathrop, Villa, Marco Forster and Carr, so there will be plenty of opportunities for mentoring kids. Meetings will start in week 2. If you are available on Wednesday 2-4pm, please consider volunteering for the entire meeting with the students, and select both options Wed 2-3 and Wed 3-4.

Math 192 (an interesting option)
Math 192 is a course on "Teaching and learning of secondary mathematics" offered by the Math Department in parallel to the Math CEO program. There are several reasons why you may consider enrolling; examples include: you are interested in mathematics education; you want a formal recognition f this experience in your transcripts, you need two units, you are committing to the training and mentoring anyway... so why not?

There will be occasional readings and reflections, but the bulk of the work of the 192 class consists in attending two hours of training and two hours of fieldwork per week with Math CEO. By enrolling in Math 192, you commit to attend all the Monday 2-4pm trainings, and to be a mentor for the middle school students for at least 2 hours per week (either on W 2-4, or an hour on T and an hour on W, or two hours on T).

Note: If you have questions about enrollment, please email apantano@uci.edu. Note: prerequisites may be lifted.
