MC2 Math Festival Interest Form - 2025-26
Thank you for your interest in hosting a Julia Robinson Math Festival (JRMF)!

A math festival is a community event where students and their families explore math through puzzles and games. Math activities are fun, hands-on, play-based, and standards-aligned!

Here’s a video that will give you an idea of what a festival is like. It's a lot of fun for everyone!

Key JRMF Info
* A Julia Robinson Math Festival typically takes place in a school gymnasium, cafeteria or library. These events typically last 90 minutes to 2 hours.
Stations with math activities are set up.  A typical festival might require 5 to 10 Stations.
* These stations are run by volunteers, called Table Leads.  A significant part of planning involves recruiting Table Leads, often Math or STEM teachers.

Math Circles of Chicago supports schools who want to host their own festivals.
* MC2 provides all of the materials for each station requested by the school, including any print outs required and math manipulatives needed.  We have detailed descriptions of each activity provided by the JRMF organization to share with the Table Leads.
* MC2 will provide one staff member on the day of the festival to help set up for the event and work with Table Leads with questions, if desired.

Schools have responsibilities too.
* Schools must identify a contact person(s) who is responsible for the coordination and planning of the festival prior to the day of and on the day of the festival.  This includes the important task of identifying Table Leads for each festival activity,  and working with school administrators, staff and building facilities so that all facets of running the festival are known and understood.  They are responsible for dealing with all things related to the school planning and to school execution.
The contact(s) must communicate with MC2 staff to ensure that activities and any requested supports can be provided by MC2.  They will also need to meet with MC2 staff at least two times prior to the festival, and be responsive to email requests to make sure event planning goes smoothly.
* Schools must adhere to all agreements made.  Any expected changes must be shared with the MC2 Festival Manager.

MC2 provides our festival services on a sliding scale. See this Fee Schedule for information about costs.
