Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program – Project Application
Our approach to teaching entrepreneurship is that it is a method that can be applied to new business opportunities. We teach a variety of methods of opportunity spotting, and then the students will work in teams of 5 to establish the feasibility of proposed solutions and possible alternatives. We seek entrepreneurial ideas from the community at large. These can be new ideas or extensions of existing ideas. The projects should be of a scope that can be completed in 5 to 8 weeks.

The students should be thought of as consultants serving the project sponsor as the client. The client will receive a final report summarizing the project and the recommendations that result. The client is expected to be able to meet with the students at the beginning of the project, ideally in person but virtually is fine. The client should also be willing to answer questions from the student team during the duration of the project. This should take no more than an hour a week, probably more at the beginning as they gain traction, then less often as the project progresses. The project will conclude with a poster session at the Agriculture and Resource Economics offices at NCSU at the end of the semester, where the “Agripreneurship” program sponsors, advisors, and faculty will be in attendance.
