George Washington High School is excited to have individuals in our community volunteering to engage with our students, staff, and educators for the 2023-2024 School year. Please follow these steps to become a volunteer:

2nd-Go to
Denver Public Schools Online Background Check. Select the volunteer background check portal to complete your background check. Background checks must be completed annually and are free of charge. Please Allow 3-5 business days for your background check to process. If you are experiencing any difficulties you may contact

3rd-Once you have completed your background check. Download, sign and send back the Volunteer Confidentiality form to our Community and Family Liaison Ms. Locks at
Jasmine_Locks@dpsk12.net.
Supervised Volunteer-An Individual who wishes to volunteer to work with GWHS students daily, weekly or monthly. In the line of sight of a GWHS staff is to undergo a background check.
Unsupervised Volunteer-An Individual who wishes to volunteer to work with GWHS students daily, weekly or monthly. Not in the line of sight of a GWHS staff is to undergo a background check in addition to an unsupervised background check.
Chaperone for a DPS sponsored field trip volunteer- An individual wishing to volunteer for a DPS sponsored field trip and in the line of sight of a GWHS staff is to undergo a background check.
Virtual Volunteer- An individual wishing to volunteer virtually in a remote classroom led by a GWHS staff is required to undergo a background check.
