Jepson Prairie Docent Training
If you are interested in becoming a Jepson Prairie Docent, please fill out this form. Jepson Prairie docents lead or assist with public tours that are held on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:00 am at Jepson Prairie Preserve, 10 miles south of Dixon on Highway 113. Tours run from mid-March through mid-May. You will select the dates that you are available. No prior experience is necessary!

Training is generally held every other year. For 2020, the schedule is (subject to changes):
-Tuesday Feb 4 (introduction to vernal pools)
-Saturday Feb 8 (how to run a tour, hydrology and soils)
-Tuesday Feb 11 (aquatic invertebrates, California Tiger Salamander)
-Saturday Feb 15 (aquatic animal display, discussion on supporting organizations)
-Tuesday Feb 18 (fire and grazing, bee biology)
-Tuesday Feb 25 (birds, wrap-up)
-Saturday Feb 29 (flower identification, explore the Preserve)

Attendance to ALL sessions is not mandatory, but highly recommended.

Tuesday sessions are held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area headquarters in Davis. Saturday sessions are held from 10:00 am to noon at Jepson Prairie
Detailed directions will be provided via email prior to the classes.

We ask for a $25 donation to cover the costs of the training sessions.
