CSU Writing Project Writers Colony - Summer 2026

Creative work needs solitude. It needs concentration, without interruptions. It needs the whole sky to fly in, and no eye watching until it comes to that certainty which it aspires to, but does not necessarily have at once. Privacy, then. A place apart — to pace, to chew pencils, to scribble and erase and scribble again.

--  Mary Oliver

The CSU Writing Project is pleased to offer you a PAID opportunity to follow Mary Oliver's advice by providing you with "privacy" and a "place apart" to write. Each day of Writers Colony will open with shared writing time, followed by a healthy block of uninterrupted personal writing time, and a brief time at the end to debrief and share. For attending and fully participating all four days, you will receive a a writing journal, a $75 stipend, and the optional opportunity to purchase one CSU graduate credit for approximately $75.
