This Earth Day, South Hero Land Trust is hosting a volunteer work day at the South Hero Recreation Park!
We will be celebrating Earth Day by doing maintenance on the trees we planted last spring, and removing invasive species.
The South Hero Recreation Park is home to about 5 acres of ash woodlands which are at risk from the emerald ash borer. Last year we partnered with Anne Zolotas, the tree warden, and the South Hero Congregational Church, as well as many community members, and with funding from VT Urban and Community Forestry, to start an ecological restoration project at the rec park, hopefully ensuring the health of this forest for future generations.
