Longer Terms for City Councilors? The Worcester City Council is considering whether to extend its two-year terms to three years. The idea is that a more stable council would be more productive if it didn't have to run for re-election every other year. It would also boost measly voter participation because elections would often coincide with state elections and occasionally with presidential elections. But why stop there? Should terms also be staggered? Should there be term limits, given that winning only three elections would have council members serving for nearly a decade? Tell us in up to 40 words.
