Hello lovely humans! We are currently seeking volunteers for the third annual Radical Adventure Riders Northeast Autumn Retreat, or RAR NAR for short. We are so excited to host a long weekend full of community building, bike skill sharing, and joy-- and we need your help to make this retreat a success!
The retreat will be held Friday September 18th - Monday September 21st in Southern VT. Volunteers who are available to attend for the whole weekend will be prioritized.
Volunteers will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. This is an opportunity for folks to work-trade for a portion of their registration cost in order to make this event more financially accessible for those who need it. We ask that you please consider whether you have access to funds to cover a ticket for yourself, and if you do, that you save a volunteer slot for someone else who may only be able to attend with this option.
General notes for Volunteers:
- We will be offering half off tickets for our volunteers to attend RAR NAR. This includes camping for 3 nights onsite, daily yoga classes & group rides, meals provided all weekend long, a kickass schedule of workshops, and a fantastic keynote.
- We are only able to accept a limited number of volunteers at this time. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Apply ASAP!
- We are also offering entirely compensated tickets to organizers who are available to attend planning meetings in the months leading up to the event. If you are interested in helping in a more engaged time-intensive fashion, please email rar.champlainvalley@gmail.com and we would be happy to talk about full time organizing in exchange for free registration.
- You can expect to work 4 volunteer shifts over the weekend, ~2 hours each
- If you would like to help set up/break down the event, we will gladly accept the help! (A possibility to extend your dreamy weekend by a couple more days!) Setup will be held on Thursday, September 17th and break down will be held in the afternoon on Monday September 21st.
- Tickets for RAR NAR will go on sale June 5th at noon EDT. If you can afford to purchase a ticket, we encourage you to set an alert to register then.
Potential Volunteer Roles:
- Lead group rides during the retreat
- Sit at the registration table/ info desk to answer questions or help with any needs that arise
- Help with daily meal prep and clean up
- Arrive early or stay late at the retreat to help with specific set up/ clean up needs
- MC our keynote speech, opening, or closing cermeony
Eligibility Requirements:
- Volunteer applicants (and all participants at RAR NAR) must identify as trans, non-binary, and/or female. We especially welcome sign ups from BIPOC & trans individuals!
- We want to prioritize these spots for folks to whom the cost of attending RAR NAR is a barrier. If you feel that you can afford the ticket price, we ask you consider if you need to take one of these limited spaces. This year, we are offering sliding scale tickets in order to accommodate a variety of budgets from our attendees. You can always pickup a few volunteer shifts even if you have paid for attendance!
- Must be available to attend the retreat at least for full days September 19th & September 20th. The full event runs from 10am Friday 9/18 to 11am Monday 9/21 (with set up on Thursday 9/17) and volunteers who are available to stay longer to help with set up/ breakdown will be prioritized.
