ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
In the spring of 1993, Johnathan J. Doody graduated from St. Joseph School in Whitecourt, Alberta as Valedictorian. Johnathan was an exceptional athlete, an inspiring student leader, a loving friend, and a talented scholar. That fall, Johnathan came to the University of Alberta to study engineering and made the decision to join the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta. In October of 1993, Johnathan was tragically killed in an automotive accident outside of his hometown. Phi Gamma Delta offers this scholarship to promote and reward the excellence that Johnathan exemplified every day.

Three recipients of the Johnathan Doody Memorial Scholarship will each be awarded $800.00

SELECTION CRITERIA
The applicant must display all of the following individual attributes, as well as maintain a healthy and productive balance between all five:
1. Friendship: The applicant must demonstrate that he can balance success in school and extracurricular activities, while maintaining key friendships and positively contributing to those around him.
2. Knowledge: The applicant must not simply possess high grades; he must demonstrate an appetite for knowledge gained through life experience, scholarship, and by exceeding the minimum standards of
achievement.
3. Service: The applicant must demonstrate a strong philanthropic spirit in his school and community that results in
a positive contribution to both.
4. Morality: The applicant must act in ways that reflect his strong moral character.
5. Excellence: The applicant must prove his constant desire to improve and reach new heights.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
In order to qualify for the Johnathan Doody Memorial Scholarship, the applicant must be a Male student enrolling in his first year of full-time undergraduate studies at the University of Alberta.
APPLICATION PROCESS
1. Complete this application, ensuring that no section is left blank.
2. Email
jdmscholarship@gmail.com a recent copy of your high school transcripts or detailed academic report.
3. All Applicants will be contacted throughout August to September to schedule an online interview with the scholarship representatives.
4. Applicants will have an opportunity to attend a University of Alberta Networking Night in September to make connections with distinguished University of Alberta Alumni.
5. Selections for the scholarship will be made in October and all applicants will be contacted regarding the outcome.
