There are two mathematics degrees at UTC, the BA Mathematics degree and the BS Applied Mathematics degree. The BS Applied Mathematics degree has three concentrations: Actuarial Mathematics, General Mathematics, and UTeach. The actuarial concentration is designed for students who wish to become actuaries, primarily in the insurance field, while the UTeach concentration is for future high school teachers. If you are at all interested in teaching mathematics in high school, be sure to take the one-hour course UTSM 1010 during your first semester at UTC.
