In July of 2010, the Organization was formed to provide support for the everyday woman that needed to talk and get help when needed. WIA, Inc. provides current services to Worcester County citizens for the purpose of pursuing, receiving knowledge and support for various goals described by each member, support in the areas of: financial literacy, development and enhancement; recreation programs; goal setting; and knowledge of self .
Responsibilities of the Board of Directors

Responsibilities of the Board of Directors
Determine policies and procedures for the conduct of the organization.
Determine Organization goals and objectives and monitor their achievement.
Raise funds necessary to ensure fiscal integrity of the Organization and to support its community projects.
Ensure the financial affairs of Women In Action, Inc. are conducted in a responsible manner and audited annually.

Term of Office:
Three (3) years, unless elected to fill an unexpired term, with a maximum three (3) consecutive terms of office.

Responsible To:
President, Board of Directors

Responsibilities of Individual Directors:

•Participate in all regular Board of Directors meetings and be accessible for personal contact in between board meetings.

• Commit time to developing financial resource. Encouraged to attend all Organization fundraising activities.

•Expected and accepted, but not required, to support the Organization with an annual personal financial contribution per fiscal year that is deposited in to the Organization discretionary account as well as supporting other fund development activities of the Organization. In a manner appropriate for board directors.

•Provide leadership to board committees. Each board director is expected to serve as an active, ongoing member of at least one committee by assuming operational responsibility of the committee.

•Prepare, in advance, for decision-making and policy formation at board meetings; take responsibility for self-education on the major issues before the board.

•Responsibly review and act upon committee recommendations brought to the board for action.

•Assist in the recruitment of future Board members.

•Represent the Foundation in the broader community.

•In general, utilize personal and professional skills, relationships and knowledge for the advancement of the Foundation.
