Internship Learning Agreement 2013-2014

    Dear Mentor:

Thank you for hosting a New Roots student as an intern! The internship is an extremely valuable opportunity for our students. Through first hand experience in a variety of professional settings, students gain critical exposure, skills and knowledge they can draw on in their future professional, academic and personal lives. Additionally, such experiences give students the opportunity to apply theories and concepts learned in the classrooms, and to make tangible contributions to our community. Such valuable learning opportunities would not be possible without your support. It is my sincere hope that our student will contribute to the work of your program, and that you feel this collaboration is mutually beneficial, productive and worthwhile. The students will be required to sign a contract that will outline the expectations of them through this program. They will also need you, their mentor, to sign said sheet along with their weekly time-card. Please read, and sign the following letter.

    Mentor:

1.) Complete a Mentor Contract on the NRCS website under the get involved tab. 2.) With your intern, develop three educational goals for them to achieve by the end of your internship. 3.) Offer support and guidance to the student (within the time constraints of your job.) 4.) Every five weeks, complete a quarterly progress report. Please assess how well your intern is progressing towards their three educational goals. Quarterly reports can be found and completed on the NRCS website. 5.) Sign the students time card every five weeks to verify the times they worked.
