Hi there! I am so excited you clicked the link to this volunteer contribution poll! This form is essentially what we would discuss over an inquiry email or in person upon meeting. It gives you an idea of all of the things you might do with our team. It also gives us a heads-up about who we should pair you with for orientation while you consider what you need for the application form. So let us get started! My name is Rydé. I am on the team that answers the gmail inquiries for Pictou County CARMA. I will be your first point of contact for this process. You can always email in to us directly. If you do not live in Pictou County, you can volunteer remotely. Where is home for you?

We have immediate openings for physically manning the raffle ticket tables inside a grocery or a hardware store (Pictou, New Glasgow, Stellarton). Shifts man the booth from 9am-1pm and 1pm-4pm on most Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Would you be interested in doing this for the next two months as a way to get to know the team first?

Please do not over-commit. We do everything we can to help our volunteers avoid being drained or burnt-out. Your mental health is important to the team and the cats! After looking at your offerings, CARMA will reach back, requesting you to fill out the Volunteer Recruitment Form for the Pictou County Chapter. You can scan or snap a photo of it and email it to carma.picco@gmail.com. We will collect the original when we meet you. We will then connect with your references.

To work directly with the animals in our care, we require trappers, fosters, and socializing volunteers to have a current tetanus shot. You can either get a new tetanus shot, attest you have one and that it is up to date, or sign a form that you have been advised of this and that your personal choice is to not get one, absolving CARMA of any liability from your choice.

Now you have some time to consider what you want to do about a tetanus shot, and to collect the info of your personal references (and your veterinarian if you have pets and plan to foster or work in direct contact with the cats). In the meantime, please fill out and submit the Volunteer Waiver form (required by our insurance). It is on our website. Once you have completed this, please scan or snap a photo of it and submit it to carma.picco@gmail.com. We will collect this original as well when we meet you.
