Extending the Strawberry Line from Cheddar through to Wells would create a safe, beautiful and sustainable traffic-free path for cyclists, walkers, runners and wheelchair users. As a visitor attraction, it would bring money into Somerset villages and towns, and give hundreds of children a safe route to school. It would also ease congestion on our ever busier roads.
The greater aim is to complete a 30-mile path from the seaside town of Clevedon to the market town of Shepton Mallet, and the section from Cheddar to Wells is key to achieving this.
I now urge the local authorities to JOIN UP THE DOTS and help complete the Strawberry Line, all the way from Clevedon to Shepton Mallet, as soon as possible.
