Sister Scholars S.O.W. is a 8-week group coaching and writing program where we provide resources to collectively achieve Success Our Way (S.O.W.). The newly expanded program offers three components: 1) Weekly group writing and professional development (virtual), 2) A group retreat, and 3) One-on-one coaching (virtual).

This program is designed for Sister Scholars (Black women who are pursuing or have completed their doctorates in a variety of fields) who can benefit from a focused writing space and additional tools for increasing their productivity. They are generally working on book manuscripts, peer-reviewed articles, grants, writing their dissertation (after the completion of research), or other forms of critical public scholarship. For Sister Scholars, writing is inclusive of tasks such as brainstorming ideas, working on articles or proposals, incorporating reviewer comments, taking notes on important books or articles, working on tables, applying for grants to support research, and more. As you invest in moving your writing forward, our dedicated weekly time should not be used for teaching or service-oriented tasks such as creating syllabi, grading, or writing committee reports. Sister Scholars S.O.W. creates a place where we can come together weekly in a Safe, Inclusive, and Supportive environment where we are accountable to ourselves and our Sisters. While we will write together in community, we typically will not read or give feedback on each other's writing unless a specific request is made among Sister Scholars who have the capacity to support in that way.

We will spend the first 20-minutes setting goals and intentions and working through a writing related professional development topic, followed by 90-minutes of focused writing, and concluding with 10-minutes sharing our writing wins for the day. We ask that those who invest in the Sister Scholars S.O.W. program prioritize the time on your calendar and commit to showing up each week for the full time period.

In order to keep our cohorts at what we have found to be an optimal size, please select yes for only ONE DAY below, or if you have flexibility, note that.
