There will be an opportunity to obtain up to 16 scans towards your certification. All standardized patients will be female to allow for maximum scanning applications.
There will be a high instructor to participant ratio to ensuring a quality scanning opportunity.
All scans must be documented in the CPoCUS log sheets which will be provided. Only determinant scans will count towards your certification total. If a scan is inconclusive, for whatever reason, it cannot be counted although it should be recorded.
The goal of this scanning day is not to rush through your scans in order to reach your goal in a timely fashion. The purpose is to provide advanced training to instill good habits when scanning to ensure the integrity of future scans.
You’ve already learned to use ultrasound for various applications (detection of global cardiac activity, pericardial effusions, AAA’s, intra-abdominal hemorrhage and intra-uterine pregnancies) and in some cases you’ve learned the Thoracic applications (detection of pneumothorax and pleural effusions/hemothorax). This is an opportunity for you to test those skills with a trained instructor and start to hone them for you’re practice.
Let your instructor know which course you have taken to determine which scans you are able to count towards IP certification.
