Spanish-speaking volunteers needed to assist asylum seekers and caravan
Otay Allies is a grassroots group of San Diego neighbors working together to support asylum seekers detained at Otay Mesa (learn more at otayallies.org). We are working to support Pueblo Sin Fronteras and Alliance San Diego (alliancesd.org), who are leading on-the-ground efforts with the caravan of Honduran asylum seekers and with asylum seekers now arriving at San Ysidro. The situation is fluid, but we are seeking to enlist Spanish-speaking volunteers who can give time here in San Diego to meet migrants, provide them information, and help them reach shelters and bus stations. There is also a need for fluent legal professionals who can travel to Mexico City to participate in know-your-rights clinics, as well as seasoned organizers who can travel with the caravan. Please provide your information and we will make sure it gets to Christian and Erin at Alliance San Diego: christian@alliancesd.org and erin@alliancesd.org. For more information, visit otayallies.org or email otayallies@gmail.com.
