"Let Us Not Forget" is a yearly, community memorial vigil event to remember and honor the lives of individuals who died while or soon after experiencing houselessness and homelessness. We gather to remember, to grieve, and to imagine and demand a more just world. Throughout each year, we collect names and stories as our neighbors and loved ones pass away, which are then shared at our annual event each Spring.

To see memories of vigils over the past five years (2021 - 2025, please see our instagram: @letusnotforget_nola)
Your Name (nicknames are great, whatever you're comfortable with!) *
Your Email (not required)
The name and/or description of the individual whom you'd like to see remembered. ***Out of respect for the privacy of those who have passed, given that we cannot ask them their consent for their remembrance being public or not, only first names and last initials will be shared publicly, but please provide full legal name if you can so we can de-duplicate our list prior to the event.
*
How did you know this person was currently or previously unhoused? Share what you're comfortable with *
Please share their date of birth or their approximate age so that we can de-duplicate our list - we will share ages (not DOBs) at the vigil as well.  *
Please share ANY memory or description of this person.

Something as simple as "took care of their dog," "was proud to be born and raised in New Orleans," or "loved their morning coffee" is wonderful, as is any longer remembrance you'd like to honor them with - sometimes folks write full eulogies and other times folks share a brief intention for remembering this person's life.

Please note if any portion should NOT be shared publicly (again, full names will not be shared publicly in connection to any stories or otherwise), otherwise we will plan to include the full text you provide about your loved one. We believe the collection of specific stories and memories is important to remembering each person's life as uniquely deserving of celebration.
We believe no one should have to live or die on the streets or without their preferred housing available to them. We would like to imagine and demand a more just world in which no one lives or dies without a home. When you imagine that world, what do you see? Feel free to be as brief or as lengthy as you'd like - we share these intentions and dreams at our vigil every yearas well.
Would you like to be emailed updates about the event including opportunities to volunteer for the event itself, for future events, and to become connected to advocacy around related policy issues?

Note: if you'd like to be involved AND keep this form anonymous, you can email us separately at nolavigilforunhoused@gmail.com with a request to be kept in the loop about volunteer/planning needs for the next vigil.

If you don't want to be on an email list, you can follow this effort on instagram: @letusnotforget_nola
