Alwoodley Fruit Tree Mapping
Fruit trees are one of the best ways to support nature, and one of the most low-maintenance ways of producing abundant local food. We want to expand the number of fruit trees across Alwoodley (the ward) and also ensure that thee fruit does not go to waste. The first step in this process is to learn more about existing fruit trees and potential sites, both in private gardens and in public spaces, for more.  Please help us to create this baseline map.

How many fruit trees do you have in your garden?
What types of fruit trees are in your garden?
Are you able to harvest the fruit that grows in your garden?
Clear selection
If applicable, please provide more info on barriers to harvesting fruit.
Would you like volunteers to be matched with your trees to help you harvest them? (You would need to supply a ladder if it's needed)
Our Alwoodley Orchardists go around and harvest fruit for people in September and October. You can elect to keep your apples or donate them to a community apple press event in October. We'll communicate with you closer to the date to be in touch about when your crop is ready for harvest.

Mapping Details: Street Name
We will create a map of current fruit trees using only post codes so that your specific address won't be publicly available. By mapping we will be identifying areas that would benefit from more fruit trees and gardens that have room for more fruit trees. This will help us to set goals around fruit tree planting.

Would you like to join the Alwoodley Orchardists?
This is a sub group of Alwoodley 2030 volunteers who learn fruit-tree tending skills, plant fruit trees across the ward, and look after existing orchards. All welcome as we're all learning as we go! If you say yes, we'll invite you to a whattsapp group, send you our schedule for the year, and make a note on our mailing list.

May we add you to the Alwoodley 2030 Mailing List

Do you have suggestions for publicly owned land where we could plant more fruit trees? (ideal loations are not right along streets or pavements, and away from obvious underground utilities). If you're able to include a link via google maps or what three words, that would be helpful!
