Growing Minds 2023-24 Farm to School Funding Application
Growing Minds is ASAP's (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project) farm to school program. Our vision is that children learn about and have positive experiences with local food and farms in the classroom, cafeteria, and community. To help make this happen, we offer mini-grants to support farm to school projects in early childhood education (ECE) centers and K-12 schools. Funding can be used for the following activities:
  • School gardens
  • Farm field trips and farmer visits to schools / classrooms
  • Local food purchasing and preparation (for meals, snacks, taste tests, and/or classroom cooking)
  • Children's literature
Applications are due March 31, 2024 and recipients will be selected by April 15, 2024. Funds must be used within one year of receipt, and you must complete our follow-up survey to provide project updates and photos (with parent permission forms).

Receive up to $500! The amount awarded will be based on availability of funding, number of applicants, and the scope of your project. Preference will be given to those who have not received a mini-grant from Growing Minds in the past year. We are only able to award schools located within the following counties in the Western North Carolina region: Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, Yancey.

If you have questions about your eligibility to apply for funding, please email us at growingminds@asapconnections.org before submitting your application.
