Homer Soil & Water Soil Testing Form
The Homer Soil & Water Conservation District soils team will get you nutrient recommendations so you can build the healthiest possible nutrient balance for your soil. 

Soil sampling costs $35.00 each for the first 3 samples and $30.00 each for any additional samples (Ex: samples 4, 5 & 6). 

Please allow 4-6 weeks of processing time for fall and winter submissions (or more during the holidays); in the spring we aim to have a 2-3 week turnaround time. 

DIRECTIONS
  1. Collect your soil sample(s).
    To make a soil sample, simply scrape off the top inch or so of soil in the area you'd like tested and dig out roughly one to two cups worth. Please let the soil dry out, then place in a sealable plastic bag. If testing a large area, take multiple samples and mix them together. For details on how to take a good sample, click here. 


  2. Fill out an information form for your sample(s).
    Proceed with the form and submit sample information for each soil test. 


  3. Pay online for your sample(s).
    If you have 6 samples or less: after submitting, proceed to the payment link on the confirmation page, or drop off a check/cash to our office at 432 E Pioneer Ave (instructions at the end of the form).

    If you have more than 6 samples: complete the form for the first six samples and submit. On the confirmation page click "Submit another response" to submit the rest of the samples. After you finish submitting your final sample, use the payment link to pay for all of them at once.

    The cost is $35.00 each for the first 3 samples and $30.00 each for any additional samples (Ex: samples 4, 5 & 6). 
    (Example for 5 samples: $35 + $35 + $35 + $30 + $30 = $165 total)


  4. Bring soil samples to our office at 432 E. Pioneer Ave in downtown Homer, AK. We have set up a safe and convenient outdoor drop-off station with instructions for you. 

    What happens after you drop off your sample? We send off your sample to the testing lab. When the results come back, we will develop recommendations tailored to your specific growing needs and send them to you by email. This usually takes 2-3 weeks on average, so plan ahead.
